networks push republican patriotism
Just a quickie post today.
Seems tv this Sunday eve is all promotional crap for right wing patriotism and pro war and bad bad taliban .. great setup for poll ratings and future elections I'd say.
SHOWTIME I'm watching right winger Drew Carey and his other repulican cronies do a special where they went to Iraq to entertain the troops.. of course the date is not shown on SHO of this actual event, but no question this took place long ago. Part of the act included talking of , "when we catch Saddam"..so this was back when these nuts thought we had an easy win.... But still it's so nauseatingly gung ho war patriotism crap it's hard to watch. The name of this 90 min special is called, "Patriot Act".
At the same time this is on, we see Dateline on NBC coverin the kidnapping of christian volunteers who were taken by Osama linked taliban. it's all very dramatic and how these bad people took them and eww we have to fight and destroy these bad types.
Other important news. Neveda has "put on hold permanently" the bomb testing that was planned for early June. Score one for the protestors!

This article, just released this afternoon at cnn.com is an updated piece on their investigation into the death of Pat Tillman. It angers me so much to read this, and think of Bush and his swaggering stutter and laugh he does to warm his friendly audiences.. my head feels like it's going to explode with anger at him (and Cheney of course).
This updated detailed story is a must read. it does not speak of American military men who were off fighting in Afghanistan, but rather scared shitless inexperienced and undertrained BOYS who were firing weapons aimlessly in utter frantic fear of dying themselves.. completely ignoring training, orders, and yells of "friendlies" from those being fired upon.
It is a gripping detailed read.. It speaks of incompetence and an undertrained American force fighting in the middle of nowhere with no real idea of what the fuck they were doing.. and then the calculated coverup from the bottom ranks up to the top.. not in a joint effort, but in a attempt to save their own cowardly skins (at the bottom) and to save the idea of a nobel war, and a presidency (at the top)
You can add Rumsfeld to your anger list as you read about the broken down humvee that had to be towed and the radio's that didn't work thus giving them no contact with others in their platoon..
CNN article
With violence escalating the death tolls keep rising too. US deaths in Iraq have jumped to 2464.

ben kessler- is he for real ?
Well, I guess he is.. This is so outrageous it is hard to believe, and keep in mind.. this guy is serious in the speech he gave. A republican's dream come true!
The name is Ben Kessler. He is a priest wannabe, graduate, and commencement speaker at St.Thomas college. His speech caused so much controversy it's all over the net. You have to read this, and keep in mind.. this guy is serious!
First read the article that discusses the aftermath of his speech. Then I'll post the actual speech. I think it's more dramatic, more in getting the point across, to post the speech 2nd, so bare with me:
Read this story on the controversy- St. Thomas honor student apologizes for grad speech The commencement speech, with reprimands for birth-control use and a recent food fight, sparked boos and walkouts. Read the controversy here
(I really enjoy the comments by one guy in that article who said that Kessler spoke of being selfish, and when he went up to get is diploma afterwards, he let Kessler know how selfish he was to make that speech !)
Now here's the actual speech but only a rough transcript that may leave out bits and pieces and the comments posted below apparently are not meant to be in any particular order:
Ben Kessler's sanctimonious speech to graduating students at St. Thomas University:
"Good morning, friends, Catholics, fellow students, sexual deviants and chronic masturbators.
"The three things I have learned here at St. Thomas University are how to play football, that the priesthood is a good racket for those of us trying to suppress homosexual urges, and that college is filled with disgusting, evil degenerate hedonists.
"Most college commencement speakers want to fill your head with trite phrases and sunshine visions of your future. I won't waste your time with such things. Instead, I will use this opportunity to demonstrate how far superior to you I am, in so many ways.
"Jesus loves you all unconditionally-- and that is why he has condemned some of you to eternal torment in the fires of Hell. Jesus loves you all-- but I don't. I think most of you are shameful.
"For those of you who use contraception, shame on you! You are murdering the billions of innocent babies that live inside your sperm!
"For those of you who participated in the food-fight the other day, that is childish and immature, and a terrible waste of food when children are starving in Iran. Even though, thanks to American intervention, and by the grace of Christ, the children of Iraq are now happy, healthy, and free from hunger, that wouldn't give the Iraqis the right to throw food at our troops, would it? But they can still throw flowers and chocolates.
"For those of you who stole my underwear and ran it up the flagpole, shame on you!
"For those of you who called me "Kessler the Messler" after I had diarrhea in my pants during Freshman year final exams, shame on you!
"For those of you who race-mix with the negroes, shame on you!
"For those of you who put pictures of naked women on the wall outside my door about a dozen times this year, shame on you!
"Many of our female students have blossomed into womanhood here at St. Thomas University. And too many of them run around with their "dirty pillows" showing. They are nasty, foul little sluts. As my mother always used to say, 'First the blood, and then the boys.' Women, who incessantly nag about things like 'Global Warming' and 'Environmental Pollution' and 'Poverty' and 'The Homeless' and 'The Hungry' are a terrible distraction to those of us concerned with serious issues, like spreading the Catholic Church's message of not letting gays get married.
"Women have no place on a college campus, unless it is serving us in the cafeteria. There are hungry people right here on campus, especially around final exams, if you know what I mean.
"If God meant for us to take care of the poor, he wouldn't have made so many of them, now would he? But homosexuals... there aren't that many homosexuals. We can take care of them, the same way we took care of the witches.
"And shame on the person who sat down in front of my computer in the library when I left to use the bathroom, and inserted passages from 'The Story of O' into my essay on why Harry Potter novels are a pathway to damnation.
"Finally, remember: Graduation is a time to look forward to the future with hope. I hope all you masturbating, condom-using, bedding out of wedlock bastards burn in Hell!
"You'll never laugh at me again! You won't! You won't! I'm going to be a PRIEST and you'll have to respect me and listen to me because I speak for GOD ALMIGHTY!
"You don't give God's messenger a wedgie! You don't leave dirty caricatures of God's Messenger in bathroom stalls! You don't put Ben Gay in the jock strap of God's Messenger! Shame on you! Shame on you all, you filthy sodomites!
"May The Lord bless you and keep you. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen."
Here's another good article on the chaos
This apparently is a short home video of (part) of his speech, I get the impression someone thought his speech was so outrageous they decided to start taping it half way thru (more than half way thru since his speech was supposedly 15 mins long).. it seems youtube.com's site is down at the moment so it may come up blank.. you can check back later and try the video again.. (I haven't seen it yet either)
Now let me ask you, would they really allow a hate monger like this in the priesthood? I don't know, afterall I'm an atheist, but I would assume , or I thought, "compassion" was the word of the day for those who choose to serve their god in a life long career..
One positive thing I can think of if this guy does somehow become a priest, no reproducing! geeshe ..
You can check in on the posts and arguing over here at Huffington Post, as the posts indicate.. he's not the only nutcase out there, unfortunately :(

Update on my past post regarding Marines who intentionally slaughtered innocent Iraqis for no apparent reason other than revenge for their own comrades fallen in active duty. I originally had the info that 15 had been killed. Today CNN shows the total at 24 who were murdered. Not that it really matters. One intentional innocent death is too many.
At 8am (approx) this morn I half asleep tuned into the radio and heard there was "a shot" in Washington. I turned over and went back to sleep knowing that all the news stations would milk this to full capacity, making it an all day event. Well needless to say when I turned tv on almost 3 hours later, CNN and MSNBC were all over this story.. which turned out to be an anonymous phone call by (only) 1 person who claimed to have heard a shot. It was ridiculous the coverage and commotion that went on because of this. Our Nation at large should be ashamed and embarrassed at appearing and acting so damn stupid most of the time. Later after 12 noon pac time, they finally backed off the nonsense.. but at 1pm they both jumped all over the story again for the first several minutes of the show.. and by the way, CNN online had already shown the supposed 'shot' to be a nail gun or some sort of equipment that was being used to repair an elevator.. Ridiculous as usual.....
UPDATE: as my suspicions confirmed, not only was it a ridiculous false alarm but it was also reported, as i suspected, by a republican official..
WHAT BULLSHIT THEY WOULD PULL SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO DISTRACT THE IDIOT MEDIA.. THAT ARE ALL IDIOTS!!!
Don't forget to check out the many links over to the left with great live video or radio feed, free upload sites for video.. we are coming into a new age on the internet that will make what we did in the past seem boring. While you're surfing the net or reading blogs, you can always tune into Air America or Progressive Talk Radio, you can tune into Young Turks live video stream and simply listen as you surf or if your pc has the capabilities make a split screen, one for the video feed and one for your online surfing. Either way, don't miss out on the video and radio links to enhance your online experience!

While government officials play games in Washington accomplishing nothing, for the most part, 2 more soldier deaths can be added to the loss of our Military in Iraq. That puts the total at 2459, 2 more than I posted yesterday.

So tell me, which Bush supporters who voted for him in the last 2 elections, will volunteer their sons and/or daughters to be added next to this list? Come on, don't be shy. Afterall a good American supports everything this president does and if not, you're siding with Osama and should leave this country because you lack patriotism.. so come on.. who's next?

air force turns to sports enthusiasts
LAS VEGAS — The Air Force is turning toward extreme sports enthusiasts to fill a shortage of special operations troops. The Air Force needs combat air traffic controllers to go behind enemy lines to set up airfields and call in airstrikes and trauma specialists to skydive into hostile territory to rescue wounded troops.
To be fully staffed, the Air Force needs 426 combat controllers. It has 350. A full complement of pararescuers is 123; there are 90.The Story

Pentagon warns over China buildup
The Pentagon's annual report to Congress says the country's consistent defense spending on aircraft, missiles and ships means China is ever closer to a longer-range military reach.
"Several aspects of China's military development have surprised U.S. analysts, including the pace and scope of its strategic forces modernization," the report says. "China's military expansion is already such as to alter regional military balances." CNN Article
..and if you're not sufficiently pissed at the nitwitts in Washington today, then take a look at this Yahoo Article on the hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks the state representatives were fighting over and usually winning for their districts yesterday.
US Military deaths in Iraq have risen to 2457. Here is a short list of some recent losses:
